Today was a very successful Volunteer Planting Workday! Special thanks to Janice and Big John for their assistance today as we had a nicely coordinated day and kept in close touch to keep things running smoothly. Janice helped keep everyone moving and John helped out between all his watering duties. All the images here were taken today. I had previously placed plants yesterday and was prepared for a crowd of 15-20 volunteers. Well, at 8 am we had that number but more stragglers kept arriving. We ended up with 36 volunteers helping plant. I'm sure I'll forget someone but thanks to Ron, Bev, Dennis, Gena, Magda, Elizabeth, Terri, Gary, Margaret, Rita, Russ, Alfredo, Alfredo's son, Marissa, Donna, Carla, Lee, Lee's wife, Sue, Maggie, Savannah, Savannah's mom, Britt, Britt's mom and dad, Leslie, Whitey, Tina, Jody, Mary W., Renee, Joanne, Marleen, Marv and those I've forgotten! Dr. Gredler was in to mow and Pat came in for some clean-up and painting duties. Urban was also around to help tidy up this morning. We also saw Hal, Doris, Dr. Yahr, Carol, Jim, Maury and many others...I was caught off guard to be honest with this turnout but turned to my back-up plan and we went beyond the simple goal of planting the All-America Selections collection and completed four other garden spaces as well! Check out the perfect advertising shot directly below with volunteers planting around our digital sign (check out the message!).
