The rain held off and we had a great turnout for the RBG Members Only Pre-Sale today! The traffic was intense early in the day and was steady for the remainder (see photos above and below). We saw a lot of plants leave the yard which is nice to observe and sales were brisk. We had many wonderful volunteers (wearing orange vests) helping out throughout the day with check out, loading, watering, etc. We sold quite a few new memberships and with the sale continuing both Saturday and Sunday (9 am - 4 pm), we should have a successful event. The weather on Mother's Day might include rain but we should still see some traffic. Further below are some plant photos from the gardens today.

Aside from our Spring Plant Sale volunteers, we did have some great help out in the gardens today. Larry H. (above) did a nice job mulching in many areas and moved on to some weeding. Directly below are Cookie (left) and Resa near their North point garden for some Spring clean-up. Marv B. (second photo down) was working in the moss garden which is looking excellent. He had been fighting some sort of a weed down there for two years and his victory is close at hand. Bill O. did some early mowing and Dr. Gredler was in for some painting. Eva was out weeding and Marcia and Mirjam (third photo down, Marcia on the left) planted in the English cottage garden after cruising the plant sale. The next photo down shows Dr. Robert Yahr, founder of RBG, with his daughter Lynn out in the gardens today. We saw many other volunteers today, many of which who were customers in the plant sale. Big John, Terry, Cindy, Cheryl and Janice all had duties today which included primarily the plant sale but some gardening work as well. Janice did a nice job keeping the sale organized and on track.
