A Nice Workday Before The Big Apple

We had an awesome turnout of volunteers today for our annual bulb planting extravaganza. At one point, I counted 22 volunteers and we had other volunteers working at our compost sale and helping tidy up the gardens before our weddings. It was nice to see some kids help out and we saw some new faces as well. Special thanks to Larry, Bill, Janice, Marianne and Big John for helping facilitate the day. Below are some of the highlights of the morning which tallied up over 8,000 bulbs in the ground in front of our visitors center. Next spring will feature blue windlfower (Anemone blanda 'Blue Shades'), golden tulips (Tulipa 'Strong Gold'), yellow tulips (Tulipa 'Big Smile') and wild hyacinths (Camassia leicthlinii 'Blue Danube'). The bottom picture shows Marianne and Vern working on lights repair which will become increasingly more important this month. I'm off to NYC next week and will try to blog if possible. Regardless, I'll come back with some nice images I'm sure.
