Directly above are just some of the amazing images I took at the Aalsmeer Flower Auction this morning. The size of the building and scale of operation were doubly amazing. Note the bidding areas with all the computer terminals. I saw two rooms such as this in the past. I was mesmirized by the number of employees and carts zipping around the sorting and shipping departments. We were also told it was a "light day" which seemed a contradiction in terms when observing the fast pace. Further below are some other images from today which lastly included a girl on a bike who is just one example of thousands we saw zipping around time. Not much energy left for blogging. Keukehnof tomorrow!
I am the Director of Horticulture at Rotary Gardens (Janesville, WI). Along with a talented grounds staff and dedicated volunteers, I enjoy being involved with this wonderful botanical resource. My educational background is in landscape architecture and urban forestry but it didn't take long to become a plant enthusiast and find a lifelong career.
