The 34 butterflies from our garden art project/display were all auctioned off this afternoon and it was a nice healthy crowd of potential bidders as seen above. I counted over 60 people in attendance and there was some lively bidding for the butterflies including a couple that went for over $200. This auction is a fundraiser for the gardens and we appreciate everyone that came out to enjoy this event. Thanks to Deb and Bev for doing so much of the coordination of this entire event and we appreciate the volunteer time today of our auctioneer and the RECAPPERS that helped display the butterflies. I had the high bid on my younger daughter's butterfly but my older daughter's butterfly went for an amount that was too rich for my blood. Oh well. Below is a shot in the plant sale today. The sale was steady but never real busy. We had some great sales but I had hoped to see more people to be honest. We'll extend the sale the Monday thru Wednesday (9 am - 5 pm) to clear out some more quality plants. At the bottom are some recent hummingbird shots that Santos took at RBG very reecently.
