Enjoyed The Paine

On my way up to Marquette, MI to do a talk tomorrow (Saturday) for a conference, I reacquainted myself with the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh, WI.  I hadn't visited in over 12 years and was glad I stopped by to enjoy the gardens before the end of the season!  I ran in to Sheila G, their Head of Grounds and we caught up and "talked shop".  I enjoyed the gardens and the Matisse display in the art gallery located inside the beautiful mansion.  Nathan and Jessie Paine (Paine Lumber Company) started construction on the home in 1927 and the house was opened as a museum in 1948.  This history is quite interesting and the sign below gives a great description of this fine institution (and gardens!).
