Our breakroom was full today as it was also a Grumpy day. Many of the guys helped with plant sale set-up (Del, Ron W., Ron B., Bob C. and others) early and moved on to other activities. The carpenters are working on a slanted roof extension over our air conditioning unit that will minimize the ice damage. They are so handy. Dick H. did some work on our trucks and we also saw Gary, Maury, Dr. Gredler, Dave and others. Our "Grumpettes" were also here and out in the gardens weeding and collectin leaves. Marilyn, Mary and Suzy did their normally spectacular job. Deb G. and Bev worked out details regarding our daisy program and the upcoming auction of those art pieces (Sept. 19). Mary W. brought in three RECAPPERS to help water the sale and work out in the gardens while Jumbo Jim brought one along too. Mike was over here today with Shirley, Laura B. and Mary Kay to work on creating podcasts for our website. Needless to say, it was crazy all day. Below are shots from today and in order, are the ornamental edible wall, stiff goldenrod (Solidago rigida) and false sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides 'Prairie Sunset'). Look up more information on these two later bloomers as they are currently attracting plenty of attention.

Fun & Frivolity
I don't have much time for verbage on this blog as I'm rushing to finish a presentation that I'll be giving up in Baraboo, WI tonight on fall chores and the garden and bulbs (for their Master Gardeners). We had a very busy day of plant sale preparations and had lots of great help pricing and tagging our plants. Glenna is above and Kay, Nancy, Shirley and Deb are directly below (not seen are Bev, Debbie and Judy). We put in thousands of color coded price tags that have really allowed us to streamline our sale and make it easy for customers and our check out people to be aware of our pricing. Marianne was the maestro of directing activities today and Janice also did a nice job keeping volunteers busy and on track (including the RECAPPERS that came to help water, see further below). I was asked to leave the area a couple of times as I was just screwing things up. Special thanks to all that helped prepare our plant sale today.
